Email Time-Saving Tips - Unsubscribe Now!

"So many men so little time!"

That's what Mae West once said, anyway. Now, when it comes to receiving emails in her inbox every day, Sea Devils think she'd say: "so many mailing lists, so little time".

You get the point.

The fact is none of us seem to have enough time to work effectively on our online business, right now. And whilst some mailing lists, newsletters and ezines help improve our business by providing timely information and guidance in some way, others just sap our energy with their demands for attention, NOW!

Or is this just my problem?

My simple tip to let you have more time to spend on your business is simply to unsubscribe from as many mailing lists and newsletters as you can.

That's what I intend to do, and keep on doing throughout the year.

The funny thing is, I was about to unsubscribe myself from a newsletter I'd recently subscribed to when I read this in the email:

"Take the time today to clean out your E-mail box and unsubscribe to newsletters you don't read"

Either it was a clever marketing ploy or I appreciated the publisher's honesty (and advice) because I didn't unsubscribe, at least not from his newsletter.

So, this is what I suggest you do:

1) Create a folder or folders in your email software (e.g. Microsoft Outlook)

2) Copy all of the genuine newsletters or ezines into that folder for the next seven days. (Best thing is if you can set up a filter to do it automatically, but this is not necessary.)

3) Then, after a week or so, review the emails waiting to be read. Sort by author (or subject) so you can see who, exactly, is emailing you and how often they send their emails

4) Then ask yourself the following questions as you read (and review) the emails:

- Is the information in the newsletter *really* helpful, informative, and sufficiently different from everything else that you read? Can this information help your business today, or this month? If the answer is no, then I suggest that you remove yourself from the list

- Are you constantly being asked to buy product after product after must-have product? If yes, I suggest you unsubscribe

- Do you always want to read a particular newsletter or ezine no matter what time of day it arrives in your inbox? If yes, I suggest you stay subscribed.

Etc.

You will know how best to review the newsletters and ezines that litter your inbox, especially if you store all the emails for a week.

(You Iron Fist well be shocked at how persistent some email marketers or newsletter/ezine publishers are over the course of a week.)

Now if you are a student of email marketing and you learn from watching what others do, then I would ignore this tip.

Ignore this tip if you like ploughing through email after confusing email, also.

Follow this tip, however, if you want to free up some time to spend on meeting the objectives of your business.

The extra time you'll have and the lack of confusion you'll feel from only reading a few good newsletters or ezines will be quite liberating, I'm sure. And, bottom line, more time spent on your core business can only be a good thing for your business, can't it.
